Music Video Experience
In our Media class we did another experience in the music video topic. This time we did has a group, all class, and try to make something together.
First we had to choose a "job", knowing what everyone was going to do in the Pre Production. After this step we start choosing what music we're going to use and when all our problems started: first we had doubts about if we're doing a normal music or a Christmas theme one; In the end we choose Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley.
Then we passed for the second part of our work, knowing what to do in the music video, behind or in front of the camera: first we discuss if we wanted to do outside or inside, we choose inside more specific in the Studio; second we decided how we're going to do the music video, what the theme, "place", what we going to put on the shot, what we need like props; after we decided all of that we started putting all together, beginning with the studio preparation, like putting cameras up, turning on the lights and putting them in place, putting all the props like inflate all the balloons, put the tables and chairs. Some of the balloons we fill them with glitter, to give a different effect in the video and we also cut some colored paper to make confetti, that in the beginning of the video and throw in our direction.
When all was set we starting to put everyone in their place, some people in front of the camera and other filming. How we arranged everyone in two tables, and sit 3 each side of the tables in the middle of the studio. Next we put all the balloons in the table and some of them covering our main singer and that way when we started to sing we just blow every balloon to the air showing the singer like that.
We only did one take what was difficult because everything needed to be perfect in the first or we couldn't did again. In the video we needed to "play" with the balloons and throw them to each other, and in the middle of them we need to pop some party poppers to be "more fun". Almost in the end of the music video we start to pop the balloons specially the glitter ones.
We did the music video using double speed music and that way in the editing part we could put the normal speed music and slow down the video to give a slow motion effect.
For the time we had and for the number of persons we had in our group the result could be so much worst and this type of project give us experience in group work and on planning, that we going to use in our next project "Stourhead", where we need to work all together to give a final product that the client is happy about. What I would change in the next project is that maybe we can next time be more "adventurous" and film in the streets and maybe put some peop;e in our video, make them take part too.
